Jeremy began his career in the mortgage industry in 1998. During his tenure in the industry, he has been in sales, closing, processing and underwriting. He has also gained some experience in auditing/due diligence.
My most memorable time in the industry is when I was a “contractor” and traveled around the country for a few years working for mortgage/financial institutions that were in need of employees of daily operations or extra help during a refi boom. I gained a lot of experience during that time. It helped me understand the mortgage process from beginning to end, and how important each role in the process is.
I’ve been interested in joining TheBANK of Edwardsville for years, unfortunately the only positions that were available were for experienced commercial loan officers—for which I was not qualified. Through some networking, I found out TheBANK was hiring a mortgage loan officer for the Riverbend area. The stars aligned and I was offered the position. I feel completely blessed for this amazing opportunity.
As a new hire, I looked forward to learning all the products TheBANK has to offer, as well as what sets us apart from the rest. From Day 1, everyone was very welcoming and helpful. I really felt like a part of the team/family the minute I walked through the door. To me, that is very unique—and hard to find anymore. I believe in setting goals and obtaining them. Put in the time, heart and effort and the sky is the limit! I want to help my clients set goals and then achieve the goals they have set. If I personally am unable to help them, I try to guide them in the right direction for immediate or future success.
I go the extra step for my clients by listening and paying attention to detail. I find out their story and what they are wanting to do. If I am unable to help them due to credit concerns, I like to go over their credit report with them and see how they can bring up their credit scores so we can possibly work together in the future—so I can help them achieve the goals they originally set out to do.
I find it very rewarding to help someone achieve their dream of owning a home, or helping them refinance their current home to put them in a better financial situation. What makes my approach to my job unique is determination—if we cannot get the transaction done at this time, what can we do to make it work in the future?
